NE Recap: "Doggystyle" - Snoop Dogg

Before the MC we know now as Snoop Lion became a lion, 20 years ago he was known to the world as Snoop Doggy Dogg or just Snoop Dogg. This week's NE Recap is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Snooop's debut album, Doggystyle. Snoop Dogg got his shot to make an impact on the game on his debut feature on "Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang" by Dr. Dre and that's exactly what he did. Nobody had ever heard a sound or style of rap that Snoop brought to the table, which is called G-Funk, and people wanted to hear more. Not long after that track arose, Snoop released DoggyStyle November 23, 1993, all produced by Dr. Dre. The first single off Doggystyle was "Who I Am (What's My Name)", it was certified Platinum by the RIAAin less than a year. After that, Snoop released his most successful single to date "Gin & Juice", which was a game changing and put Snoop on another level. "Gin & Juice" was certified Platinum by the RIAA in less than 3 months. Doggystyle contained other hits such as "Murder Was The Case", "Lodi Dodi", "Doggy Dogg World" and more. Since this album, Snoop Dogg has been one of the most successful and beloved MC in Hip Hop. Snoop is everybody's Uncle and we all are Snoop's nephews and nieces. We definitely glad to still have Snoop in the game after 20+ years. Take a look at Snoop's singles from Doggystyle right below.
